A man was accused of murder after his mother was shot and killed in a north Houston parking lot earlier this week.

The shooting happened Oct. 19 in the parking lot of a hotel at 222 Airtex Blvd.

Kimberly Alexander, 45, was taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle, where she was later pronounced dead.

On Friday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced that Alexander’s son, Dillan Alexander, 19, had surrendered to police custody after being charged with murder in connection with the shooting.

Sheriff Gonzalez also said Alexander was charged with tampering with evidence.

The motive behind the shooting is not clear at this time.
