It was a political hit…and run post?

A Wisconsin woman has labeled a city council a “scumbag” for trying to fine her more than $100 a day for a gory Halloween display depicting Donald Trump and Joe Biden on her front lawn.

“I think it’s stupid, and I actually told them that,” Cherise Pfeifer, 42, told Kennedy News of the proposed “fun-sucking” punishment. “It’s a Halloween decoration.”

The Wausau homestead has become an occasion for the city to decorate its property with handmade figurines, fake tombstones and other extravagant holiday displays each fall.

“I’ve been doing crazy Halloween decorations at my house for 10 years,” said the mother of two. “I’m known around town for them and I make them all myself.

A few years ago, Pfeifer stepped up his set repertoire with a scene depicting Trump and Biden involved in an imaginary car accident.

This controversial crash scene consists of a real blue car on her lawn with a fake “corpse” on the roof. A photo of Trump’s head is stuck inside the windshield behind the wheel, while a fake Joe Biden sits in the passenger seat.

“(In the scene) they hit a car mechanic body which was created as if they were upset that they didn’t fix the car properly,” the insurance agent boasted.

While city residents loved the quirky display, it fell foul of the Wausau City Council, which argued that parking the vehicle on the lawn violates one of the city’s municipal codes.

This ordinance prohibits people from parking cars on glass, stipulating that they must be parked in a driveway or other designated hard surface, according to the organization’s website.

The council gave Halloween enthusiasts until Oct. 22 to remove them and said they would fine her $122 each day until she complied.

This proposal did not sit well with Pfeifer, who claimed, “I think it’s 100 percent petty that I have to remove this.”

The Wisconsinite claimed she did not violate municipal code because she clearly parked the car there as a “Halloween decoration” and not because she didn’t have enough space.

“I have room for eight cars in the driveway and currently I only have three parked there,” she argued. “It’s not like I can’t park it in my driveway.”

“‘You’re a fun fool.’ That’s what we called them (the council),” continued Pfeifer, who, after a battle with the council, finally capitulated and removed the decoration.

The Badger State native thought the move might have been motivated of the upcoming presidential elections as the screen had in previous years without incident.

“I don’t know if it’s partly political this year because of who we had in the car,” Pfeifer said. “If the inspectors didn’t like one of the people we put in the car, I could see them doing that.”

“It doesn’t make sense for him to come after me this year and not in any of the other years,” she added.

Many commenters came to Pfeifer’s defense after she posted her plight on Facebook.

“And that’s why people don’t do much for holiday decorations anymore,” said one quarterback. “The car doesn’t hurt anyone. It is simply part of the theme for decorations. Wausau sucks.”

Another fumed: “Bathroom is a total fun burglar. It doesn’t hurt anyone. Obviously you don’t have it (the car) there after the holiday. What a poor sport.”

However, others sided with the council, writing: “The citation is for parking on the lawn. Not for decorations.”

“You can NOT park a vehicle on your lawn in the City of Wausau. Read your citation… no, said another.

However, Pfeifer says most people supported her and even urged her to appeal the ruling.

She is currently applying for a permit that would allow her to recreate the scene of the car crash on October 31 – although she is not sure if they have Halloween exemptions.

“I might even get a big sign that says, ‘The city made me quit the scene of the car accident,'” Pfeifer joked.
