SALISBURY, NC – A man has been charged with fatally assaulting a woman in a parking lot Wednesday night, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Around 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, officers responded to the Statesville Boulevard parking lot in reference to an assault.

Upon arrival, police said they found a 57-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries. Despite receiving CPR, she died at the scene.

After further investigation, police served a search warrant Thursday afternoon at 44-year-old Herman Floyd III’s apartment near Clancy Street. Investigators obtained information and items related to the homicide.

Floyd was arrested and charged with first degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Rowan County Detention Center.
