Harris releases his ‘to-do list’ based on Biden’s agenda

Vice-President Kamala Harris released a “to-do list” in the final days of presidential choice while she tries to present specific proposals to voters.

The list contains 14 items with an “and more” item at the end.

Several of the elements are continuations and permutations of what President Joe Biden tried to do. Her proposal to cap the cost of insulin at $35 and lower prescription drug prices is an extension of policies established by the Inflation Relief Act of 2022.

Another element, protecting and strengthening Obamacare, was a plan from Biden and Harris. Recently, the President and Vice President announced that they will be expanding covering of contraceptives under Obamacare.

Like Biden, Harris has also noted that he wants to invest in clean energy and manufacturing.

Biden signed an executive order in July establishing, among other things, a “Made in America” office. He announced an additional $7.3 billion in September to provide rural communities with clean energy.

Other items are more vague or things the Biden administration couldn’t accomplish. Harris has said she wants to “restore reproductive freedom,” a general Democratic policy position that Biden has also adopted. She also wants to “advance gun safety laws,” another general policy position of Democrats.

Harris has stressed that he wants to pass the bipartisan border bill, which failed despite Biden’s support, largely because former President Donald Trump opposed it. The bill’s prospects are unlikely to improve even if Harris wins the White House, given that Republicans are favored to win the Senate.

Among new policies that distance her from Biden, Harris said she wants to legalize recreational marijuana use. Biden softened his administration’s stance on the drug, but did not go so far as to outright legalize marijuana at the federal level.

She also reiterated her new economic policies that aim to expand the child tax credit and offer a big tax break to new small businesses. At the bottom, just before an “and more” note, Harris noted one of his most controversial policies.

“Pass the first federal ban on corporate food and grocery price gouging,” she added.

Trump said that POLICY it would be like a “communist price control” in that those markets would be influenced by the government and not by supply and demand. Economists are divided on whether it would work.

Harris tried to contrast herself with Trump at her rally in Atlanta, Georgia, by touting her to-do list. “Either Donald Trump is out there pouring over the enemies list,” Harris said. “Or I work for you, checking off my to-do list.”
