DraftKings DFS Series Picks for Week 8: Daily Fantasy Football (2024)

Welcome back, RotoBallers! I hope you’re excited for an exciting Week 8 Main Slate on DraftKings. With no bye weeks and no game in London, we have a packed slate for Week 8. Despite all these matchups on the board, I’d say there are few true “obvious” mids for guaranteed DFS fireworks. Throw in a few key injuries and this has all the makings of a wild Sunday of action.

These DraftKings team recommendations are based on matchups, projected DK points and ownership, overall upside/talent levels and opportunities, as well as factors like Vegas odds, home field advantage and more. There are quite a few great pieces available on DK for Week 8.

DraftKings Quarterbacks – Week 8 DFS Picks

Jordan Love – GB at JAX ($7,100)

Fresh off posting 220 passing yards and three TDs against a stout Houston Texans defense in Week 7, Jordan Love drew a dream matchup against the Jaguars this week. To say Jacksonville’s pass defense has been abysmal is an understatement, as the Jags have allowed the most passing TDs in the NFL (16) this season and are giving up 8.0 yards per pass attempt to opposing QBs.

Love has shown an elite combination of DFS floor and ceiling this season. He hasn’t scored less than 17.0 DraftKings points in any of his five starts since 2024 and has eclipsed 25.0 DK points in two of those five. The Packers have a juicy team, projected to total 26.5 points in this matchup, and Love has the potential to put up game-winning stats against the Jags.

Bo Nix – CAR to DEN ($5,600)

I certainly didn’t go into the week expecting to have Bo Nix on my radar, but here we are, which I suppose is what makes DFS so much fun. While the rookie’s game log doesn’t blow us away, some underlying things pique my interest, particularly his underrated rushing ability.

Nix ranks fourth among NFL quarterbacks in rushing yards (255) and TDs (three). He has now rushed for 60 yards or more in Denver’s last two games. In addition to Nix’s improvement in play, we can’t ignore how terrible the Carolina defense is that he’ll be facing in Week 8. I’m talking bad on a historical trajectory.

The Panthers rank last in the NFL in points per game (34.7) allowed. This unit is one of two defenses in the league to give up 14 or more passing TDs and average more than 8.0 yards per attempt to opposing QBs.

DraftKings Running Backs – Week 8 DFS Picks

Joe Mixon – IND at HOU ($7,700)

While there have undoubtedly been injury issues, Mixon has been a beast when he’s been able to get on the field for the Texans. Houston’s offseason acquisition was everything they could have hoped for, as the 28-year-old has rushed for over 100 yards in all three healthy games he’s played in 2024.

One of those performances came against the Colts in the season opener, a game in which Mixon destroyed Indy for 159 yards on the ground. He should find success again against the Colts’ run defense in Week 8. Indianapolis enters this matchup allowing the third-most rushing yards (876) in the NFL to enemy RBs this season.

Kareem Hunt – KC to LV ($6,300)

While Kareem Hunt may not be the explosive player he once was, the veteran has Andy Reid’s trust, which led Hunt to gain full court control in Kansas City. Since signing with the Chiefs off the street and earning 15 snaps in his first appearance in the lineup in Week 4, Hunt has been the undisputed workhorse for this team.

He’s scored 28 and 24 in KC’s last two, which he’s turned into a 22-point DK average in those contests. In Week 8, Hunt draws a shaky Raiders defense that allows the NFL’s third-most points per game (26.1) and 4.95 yards per carry to the running back position.

DraftKings Wide Receiver – Week 8 DFS Picks

Drake London – ATL to TB ($7,200)

The hope around the fantasy industry was that the addition of Kirk Cousins would unlock Drake London, a player who most thought was a talented player stuck in a horrible situation last season. Well, mission accomplished.

Cousins consistently fed London looks in the first half of the season. He enters Week 8 ranked third in the league in targets (62), receptions (44) and TDs (five), as well as second in red zone targets (12).

A juicy matchup with the Bucs awaits this week. London torched Tampa Bay’s secondary in Week 5, going 12 of 13 for 154 yards and a score. There’s no indication that Tampa will fare any better this time around, as they’ve scored seven TDs against opposing running backs over the past four weeks.

Jalen McMillan – ATL to TB ($3,700)

The other side of this NFC South matchup features a Bucs receiving corps that was decimated by injuries in a Monday night loss to the Ravens. Tampa Bay lost Chris Godwin for the season with a sprained ankle and Mike Evans for several weeks with a hamstring problem.

Now, this Bucs passing attack – which has been one of the most formidable in the NFL this season – will use a combination of Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard in the absence of Godwin and Evans. My money is on rookie McMillan leading the way.

The third-round pick out of the University of Washington has been the toast of Tampa Bay’s training camp this preseason and was targeted eight times in last week’s loss to the Ravens.

Getting pushed into the WR1 role at the NFL level won’t be easy, but he could play some games against a Falcons secondary that ranks last in the NFL in catch rate (72.1%) allowed to opposing receivers.

DraftKings Tight Ends – Week 8 DFS Picks

Brock Bowers – KC to LV ($6,100)

I’m pretty sure Brock Bowers is the player I’ve written about the most in this article through the first seven weeks of the season. So, while I’m sorry if my love for the Raiders rookie makes for repetitive reading, I’m also not sorry because my job is to help you make your best plays, and Bowers was the most productive tight end in the NFL in this moment. year. He leads all DraftKings TEs in targets, receptions, yards and scoring through Week 7.

I’m normally happy to steer clear of a struggling Kansas City defense, but tight end defense has been this unit’s Achilles heel this year. The Chiefs have allowed the most DK points in the league at the TE position and rank near the bottom of the NFL by almost every metric when it comes to defending opposing tight ends.

With Davante Adams gone and no other legitimate offensive weapons, Bowers should continue to be loaded with targets this week.

David Njoku – BAL at CLE ($5,100)

I’m sure Cleveland fans are in a state of absolute depression now that Deshaun Watson has been lost for the season. Ok, seriously, the Browns will be rolling Jameis Winston against the Ravens in Week 8, and while Winston is an interception machine, he should also add a downfield element that Cleveland didn’t have with Watson under center.

One of the biggest benefactors of Watson’s absence (besides Browns fans) should be tight end David Njoku, who went into beast mode when Joe Flacco stepped in for the Browns last season.

Playing with three quarterback combinations in Cleveland last week, Njoku drew a ridiculous 14 targets that he turned into a 10/76/1 stat line. With Amari Cooper now in Buffalo and Jerry Jeudy largely ineffective, “The Chief” should serve as Cleveland’s de facto WR1 for the rest of the year.

He draws a matchup against a Ravens defense that isn’t what it used to be. Baltimore was burned by the TE position in 2024 and allowed three different tight ends to top 90 receiving yards against them this season.
