Kingston man convicted in 2020 murder case through DNA evidence

Raymond Snyder, 41, of Kingston, was convicted of second-degree murder and burglary in connection with the 2020 slaying of Romero Underwood.

Prosecutors said Snyder pistol-whipped and fatally shot Underwood in an apartment on St. James Street that Snyder shared with his girlfriend.

Authorities said the shooting was motivated by a dispute over drugs.

A key piece of evidence linking Snyder to the murder was a single drop of blood on the apartment wall that matched his DNA profile.

Snyder’s sentencing is pending.
