Traffic stop ends in seizure of methamphetamine in Dubois County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A man was arrested Thursday in Dubois County after he failed to stop as deputies tried to pull him over.

Thursday morning, deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop.

Once deputies were able to stop the vehicle, they identified the driver as Billy Somers. While speaking with Somers, deputies noticed a peach-colored bag lying on the ground near the driver’s door of the truck.

During the search of the truck, officers found a black digital scale containing a white crystal-like substance, two bags containing a green plant-like substance, and a red glass marijuana pipe containing burnt residue. Inside the peach-colored bag was a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance that had a total weight of 37.1 grams.

Somers was taken into custody and booked into Dubois County Sheriff’s Office

  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony

  • Possession of methamphetamine, level 3 felony

  • Possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor
