Man injured in downtown Toronto shooting, 1 suspect wanted

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting on Toronto’s east side Sunday night.

The incident happened in the Cabbagetown South neighborhood near Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots heard nearby.

They said officers found a male victim with serious but non-life threatening injuries and a vehicle was seen fleeing the area.

Police say the two suspects, a man and a woman, fled the area.

In a follow-up post on X, they said officers located the suspects’ vehicle, which was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

One of the suspects was arrested, while the other fled.

A firearm was also recovered, they said.

No other suspect description is available at this time.

There is currently an increased police presence in the area.

Sherbourne is closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets and police are asking motorists to use alternative routes.
