Elderly couple identified as victims of fire in Weare, NH

Two people killed in a Weare, NH, house fire Wednesday morning have been identified as Paul L. Naves, 80, and Catherine A. Naves, 77, said officials on Friday.

An autopsy performed Thursday found Paul died of natural causes and said Catherine’s death was accidental, the New Hampshire state fire marshal’s office said in a statement. Firefighters, along with Weare police and firefighters, are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters who responded to 83A High Rock Road at 10:44 a.m. for reports of a building fire saw smoke coming from a second-story window, Globe. reported. Crews entered the home and found the Naves, who were pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the fire can call the state fire marshal’s office at 603-223-4289, according to the release.
