Man charged with murder, DUI in connection with fatal crash on Dixie Highway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A Jefferson County grand jury has returned an indictment against 34-year-old Tyler Allen in connection with a fatal accident on Dixie Highway back on August 7th.

According to the indictment, Allen was driving under the influence when the fatal crash occurred. Online court records show there is now a warrant out for his arrest.

The indictment shows Allen is charged with murder, assault, criminal endangerment, criminal mischief and operating under the influence.

The crash happened in the 14600 block of Dixie Highway just before 9 p.m. Aug. 7 near the LG&E Power Plant and South Louisville Concrete Plant, LMPD spokesman Matthew Sanders said.

When officers arrived, they discovered that three vehicles were involved in the crash. Sanders said an SUV and a sedan were traveling south on Dixie when, for unknown reasons, the two crashed into each other, sending the SUV into oncoming traffic. The SUV then hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the SUV, a woman named Susan Dunn, died in the crash. Two others were seriously injured.

Although Allen is not in custody, preliminary bail has been set at $50,000 and a court hearing is scheduled for Monday.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
