Diddy is seeking bail in the sex trafficking case because prosecutors say he is a danger to the community

Sean “Diddy” Combs appeared in a Manhattan courtroom Friday to ask for bail as he awaits trial on federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

The 55-year-old music mogul, dressed in a khaki outfit released from prison, greeted family members, including his 17-year-old twin daughters Jesse and D’Lila Combs, who attended the hearing in support.

Diddy’s legal team asked Judge Arun Subramanian to release him on $50 million bail. This marks his fourth attempt at bail after previous denials, citing concerns that Combs poses an “extreme danger to the community” and tampered with witnesses. Prosecutors say Combs ran Bad Boy Records as a criminal enterprise for more than a decade, using his power to abuse women and intimidate witnesses.

The indictment details claims of forced drug-fueled sexual encounters during what Combs allegedly called “Freak Offs.” Evidence collected during raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami included narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant. Combs has pleaded not guilty, with his lawyers saying the sexual encounters were consensual.

Judge Subramanian is to issue a decision on Combs’ bail application following the hearing. The trial is set for May 2025.
