The city said a fiber contractor accidentally hit an unmarked water line in the area, resulting in “a lot of flooding.”

According to one statement from the Apache Junction Police Department, the entire intersection of Idaho Road and Superstition Boulevard was closed as water crews worked to resolve the issue.

Detour north using Apache Trail or Tomahawk Road and use Superstition Boulevard or Thunderbird Road to travel in other directions.

The city of Apache Junction posted on X that the intersection will remain closed in all directions for the rest of the weekend. More updates will be provided on Monday, November 24.
