MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) – A Price County man is accused of defrauding the federal crop insurance program.

According to a news release from the United States Department of Justice, Lance Meier, 52, of Ogema, Wis., is accused of defrauding the federal crop insurance program.

The indictment alleges that on Sept. 30, 2019, Meier submitted a fraudulent bank statement to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation in connection with the reinstatement of crop insurance, according to the news release.

The press release says Meier faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
