YouTuber Austin McBroom sued after alleged ‘loud and disruptive challenge’: Complaint

A Los Angeles woman has filed a civil suit for damages against the social media personality Austin McBroom.

In a lawsuit alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress, stalking, harassment and infringement, filed Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Brittney Collinson alleges that the YouTuber — who boasts millions of followers — entered into her property “without consent” and then posted a series of videos, some of which showed her home address.

“Several of these videos very obviously included (Collins’) home address because they showed the exterior of her home with a clear view of the street and address numbers,” the complaint alleges. “This belligerent act by McBroom violated (Collinson’s) privacy and caused her substantial emotional distress and fear of the consequences of publishing her home address to millions of strangers.”

According to the complaint, the YouTuber allegedly went to Collinson’s home on the morning of August 19 and “proceeded to record a video of himself performing a loud and disturbing skit in which he feigned emotional distress, vocalizing loudly, scattering personal effects and significantly disturbing the peace” of Collinson’s home and neighborhood.

“McBroom appears to have claimed to be moving out (or being kicked out) of the home, even though he never lived there,” according to the complaint. “Neither (Collinson) nor her roommates extended permission to McBroom to enter the property, record any activities, or broadcast such recordings on any platform.”

Later that day, he allegedly posted a series of videos to his Snapchat account.

According to the complaint, after the videos were released, Collinson “experienced a significant increase in unwanted and threatening visits to her home.”

“Strangers showed up at (her) home uninvited, leaving her in constant fear for her safety and the safety of her home,” the complaint claims.

According to the complaint, McBroom had recently filmed an online dating show called Austin is looking for love, which Collinson’s roommate attended. Prior to the incident, McBroom had allegedly posted content inside the home, but the August 19 incident “was not permitted in any way.”

Collinson claimed she was forced to move out of the residence and pay double rent for at least one month, according to the complaint.

McBroom rose to fame with Catherine Paiz in 2016 as family vloggers on YouTube’s ACE Family with their children Elle, 8, Alaïa, 6, and Steel, 4.
