Begusarai: A 26-year-old youth died late on Wednesday night after assailants pelted him with bricks and stones following a confrontation over a petty issue during a ’tilak’ ceremony. The incident took place in Chamtha village under Bachhwara police station area in Begusarai district. The victim has been identified as Manish Kumar of Chamtha village.
Manish’s father Ranjeet Rai said Manish’s cousin Rahul was getting married on November 23 and the tilak ceremony was on Wednesday. “The attackers were not invited. However, they forced their way into the event and pressured the DJ team to play the song of their choice. This angered people and when Manish tried to stop them, the attackers started pelting bricks and stones at Manish was fatally hit on the head. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital,” said his father, adding that his son was a job aspirant.
DSP Begusarai (HQ) Ramesh Prasad Singh said that one of the accused has been arrested in the case.
