Vancouver fan Taylor Swift offers apartment in exchange for ticket

A Swiftie in Vancouver is hoping for a miracle as the Vancouver stop of the pop star’s Eras tour approaches.

Jacci Rai failed to get tickets when the pre-sale codes were announced last November. With the shows just weeks away and still no luck finding tickets, Rai said her friend recommended a unique idea.

“We tried to think about what we have as an advantage in Vancouver and how we could get access to tickets without spending an arm and a leg. My friend suggested, “Well, why don’t you give up your apartment in exchange for tickets,” she said, adding that she lives a short walk from the stadium.

Rai posted a video on TikTok highlighting her request. As of Wednesday, the video has received more than 66,000 views.

Although Rai said she’s had a few people interested in reaching out, she hasn’t found the right one yet.

“It’s not that weird, even though it sounds crazy,” she said. “I think it could be such a fun story.”

Walt Judas, CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of BC, said Rai’s idea of exchanging a place to stay for a ticket is reminiscent of the innovative housing options that were common during the 2010 Olympics.

“I think people are creative,” he said. “And hopefully we’ll see a whole bunch of people coming in from out of town enjoying Vancouver during that time.”

With some hotels priced at more than $1,000 a night during Swift’s concerts in December — Rai thinks there’s a good chance her offer will work.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said. “We’ll do anything that’s a little crazy. But what’s crazier? Give up my apartment? Or spending four to six thousand dollars on tickets?”
