Police have seized 130 vehicles as part of a national road safety initiative to target uninsured driving in one county.

Essex Police seized vans, cars and motorbikes between November 11-17 as part of a campaign called Op Drive Insured, which aimed to get uninsured drivers off the roads.

Patrols were carried out in the west of the county and officers took part in a static guard for two days at a site in Thurrock, Essex.

A spokesman for Essex Police said a total of 3,089 uninsured vehicles were seized by the force in the first nine months of this year.
