Glasgow: Police carry out controlled explosion at bus stop after ‘potentially suspicious item’ found | UK news

Police have carried out a controlled explosion at a bus stop in Glasgow city center following the discovery of a “potentially suspicious item”.

Three men were also arrested following Wednesday’s incident at Buchanan bus station.

Police Scotland said in a statement: “At around 1.10pm this afternoon police received a report of a potentially suspicious object at the bus stop.

“Officers contacted EOD and a controlled explosion occurred. Nothing suspicious was found.”

The travel center – Scotland’s busiest bus station – was evacuated as a “precaution” during the incident.

The Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, which is opposite the bus station, has also canceled a show.

The venue was to host an event featuring legends of Glasgow football club Celtic.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, tonight’s event has been cancelled,” the venue said on X.

“All ticket holders will be contacted in due course. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
