Search begins for poachers after several animals are left dead in a Missouri pasture

MACON CO., Mo. (KCTV) – Law enforcement is searching for those behind the deaths of several animals, including a calf, that were left to sleep in a Missouri pasture over the weekend.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says a poaching case was opened over the weekend in Macon County after a cow, calf and several deer were found dead in a pasture.

Law enforcement officials said all the animals were shot and left to lie across the pasture. As of Wednesday, Nov. 20, no further information has been released about when and where the animals were killed.

Investigators said they do not currently have a suspect in custody. Anyone with information about those responsible should report it to Operation Game Thief at 800-392-1111.
