Man accused of crashing stolen truck while driving on suspended license

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) – A man is accused of crashing a stolen truck while his license was suspended.

Richard D. Colbroth was cited for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured vehicle, expired registration, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to wear a seat belt.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a single vehicle accident on Dykersburg Road around 6:42 pm on Monday, November 11th.

Deputies say the driver, identified as Colbroth, told them he lost control of the Ford F250, failed to take a curve and the truck left the road, rolled and came to rest on its roof.

According to the sheriff’s office, the truck was stolen and Colbroth’s driver’s license was suspended.

During his arrest, deputies say they found a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Colbroth was taken to an area hospital and treated for a minor injury following the crash. He was then released and sent to the Williamson County Jail.
