The new collaboration supports victims of abuse and bullying

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – A new partnership has formed a network to provide support and care to victims of abuse and assault in the Great Lakes Bay region.

On Wednesday, November 20, Michigan Forensic Examiners (MFE) announced that it has partnered with the CAN Council and the Child and Family Services Sexual Assault Center in Saginaw to provide support and care to victims of abuse and assault.

The partnership is designed to provide expert, trauma-informed medical care. MFE is a provider of Pediatric Forensic Medical Examinations for the CAN Council of Huron and Saginaw Counties, with the CAN Council providing financial support for MFE’s 24/7 on-call Nurse Examiner for Sexual Assault coverage.

“We are pleased to partner with the CAN Council and the Sexual Assault Center in a united effort to ensure that all victims of abuse and assault receive prompt, expert care,” said Lindsey Bulgrien, executive director of Michigan Criminal Examiners. “Our community deserves a comprehensive support system, and by combining resources we can expand our services and reach out to ensure no one falls through the cracks.”

In general, the program is designed to provide support and forensic care to those experiencing abuse and/or assault.
