With only 12,300 units on offer, anticipation was intense, and the PS5 Pro bundle was barely locked in for a few minutes as fans made their way past the PlayStation Direct virtual waiting room.

The other pieces of hardware soon followed suit and all sold out pretty quickly. When other retailers were able to launch their own pre-orders two weeks later on October 10 (but only for the PS5 Slim and DualSense controller), the action was just as intense and stock flew off the virtual shelves. We’ve seen some fleeting stock at retailers like Amazon and Target in the US and Argos and Currys in the UK, but nothing substantial or long-lasting.

Which brings us to today, the eve of the launch of the 30th Anniversary Collection. I think this release date might be a good bet for some stock drops or retail reserves for the 30th anniversary collection. It’s not guaranteed by any means, and it’s mostly based on my own hunch and experience – there was indeed a stock PS5 released on launch day, when few people expected it at the time – but we also have some retailer-specific reasons to hold out hope . Let me explain…

So what’s all the fuss about then?

Well, in September, along with the official announcement of PS5 ProSony has unveiled its rather extensive 30th anniversary collection. This is a collection of limited edition PS5 hardware that is decked out in the original PS1 aesthetic and everything looks great.

The gray colorways are perfect for igniting that nostalgia in longtime PlayStation fans and celebrating the original PlayStation made for perfect PS5 consoles and accessories.

The collections specifically covered the PS5 Pro, PS5 Slim, DualSense, DualSense Edge and PlayStation Portal, although you did get a DualSense charger in the same style as the PS5 Pro bundle – the latter of which was only made in quantities of 12,300 units. of the December 3rd PS1 release date.

The collection was extremely popular with a lot of hype before pre-orders went live. When the opportunity to pre-order came for fans, it was all gone within minutes, however, and many have been left disappointed ever since. Which is part of the reason for our live coverage starting today.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection launch day!

We’re here to look forward to and celebrate the release date of the collection and cheer on fans who are finally getting their hands on the gear. But we’re also here with our fingers crossed that we might see launch day stock drops or stock at retailers who may have been holding dry powder on a certain inventory or have specific launch day units to sell.

It’s by no means guaranteed, but that won’t stop us from hoping and constantly checking for you./. We’ve got all the best and most important links to check out above, and we’ll keep this post as up to date as possible with news and links to the actual stock should any appear.
