The Los Angeles Dodgers moved within two wins of a World Series title but lost Shohei Ohtani to an injury during a 4-2 Game 2 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday.

Teoscar Hernández and Freddie Freeman hit back-to-back home runs and Yoshinobu Yamamoto held the Yankees to one hit through 6.1 innings before Ohtani was injured on a stolen base attempt in the seventh inning.

The Dodgers got on the board first with a home run from NLCS MVP Tommy Edman in the second inning.

The Yankees responded immediately with a Juan Soto home run in the top of the third.

The Dodgers responded immediately in the bottom of the frame as Hernández scored Mookie Betts and himself on a two-run homer.

Freeman followed with a home run of his own to put the home team ahead by three runs.

The home run marked Freeman’s second in as many games, following his walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning of Game 1 on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Yamamoto shut out the Yankees in his World Series debut. Soto’s homer was the only hit-and-run he allowed in his 6.1 innings on the mound.

The Dodgers ran into trouble in the bottom of the seventh inning when Ohtani’s attempt to steal second went down as he appeared to suffer a shoulder injury on the play.

Like the Dodgers the night before, the Yankees loaded the bases before the final at bat of the night. Unlike Freeman, Jose Trevino could not capitalize on the opportunity again.

Mookie Betts, Hernández and Edman had multiple hits for the Dodgers, while Soto was the only batter to record more than one hit for the visitors. Yankees captain Aaron Judge was held hitless and hit three times as Carlos Rodon took the loss.

The Dodgers will take a 2-0 lead into New York but face questions about Ohtani’s availability going forward.

The World Series continues on Monday as the Yankees return to the Bronx for their first home game of the series. First pitch of Game 3 is scheduled for 8:08 p.m
