Man from the city accused of burglary, vehicle theft News, Sports, Jobs

A city man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and rummaging through an unlocked home in the 1500 block of Crawford Avenue last Friday.

Dan Emmanuel M. Diomande, 27, faces felony charges of burglary, criminal mischief and theft, a felony count of theft and a summary charge of driving without a license.

Unable to post $200,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 27 before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Dunio.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Diomande took a white 2010 Dodge Journey from the Chestnut Avenue Sheetz and was seen on video surveillance going south on Seventh Street toward First Avenue. Diomande has an expired driver’s license, the statement said.

The victims immediately reported the vehicle stolen and it was later found parked in the 1500 block of First Avenue, according to the affidavit, which states Diomande then went to the front door of an unlocked residence, entered the home and he “crossed” through two. bedrooms before entering the owner’s bedroom, was confronted and told to leave the property.

According to court records, Diomande left the residence after taking a pack of cigarettes. Within minutes, he returned and was again confronted by the owner at the front door.

Diomande then went to the back of the house and was confronted by the owner’s daughter, who took photos of Diomande and then called police, the report said.

At the scene, Altoona police saw the stolen Dodge Journey and found Diomande in the 1500 block of First Avenue with a pack of cigarettes in his possession. Police have confirmed that Diomande is the man pictured in the photos, the statement said.
