RAWALPINDI:

Police claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in a house robbery during an encounter in Rawalpindi’s Naseerabad area on Tuesday. The accused was allegedly injured in the exchange of fire with the police. According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred when a suspicious vehicle was flagged to stop during a routine quick check in Naseerabad. The suspect opened fire, prompting police to return fire.

According to the spokesperson, the arrested individual, identified as Muhammad Ali, is a wanted felon and a convicted felon in multiple home robbery cases. Police have recovered a Honda City car, a mobile phone and a gun that were stolen a few days ago from the area of ​​the Westridge Police Station.

Senior police officials, including Chief Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, arrived at the scene with a contingent of police to help apprehend the accomplices of the suspect, who managed to flee. A search operation has been launched to nab the fugitive criminals.

CPO Hamdani lauded the efforts of Potohar SP, Cantt DSP and Naseerabad police for their bravery in neutralizing the suspect and recovering the stolen goods. He stressed that criminals who attack the lives and property of citizens and law enforcement will not escape justice.
