15-year-old sentenced to up to 6 years for stabbing aunt in the head while driving: officials

A Lancaster County teenager has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to stabbing his aunt in the head with a knife while driving, according to the Lancaster District Attorney.

D’Andre Jennings, 15, was sentenced to two and a half to six years in prison on charges of aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of murder and reckless endangerment.

On Feb. 2, Jennings stabbed the victim in the back of the head with a knife while driving on Susquehannock Drive, police said. Documents show the attack caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic before bringing the vehicle to a safe stop.

The victim suffered a large laceration to the back of her head but was able to survive, the district attorney said. The victim stated that she did not know why she was stabbed.

Officials report Jennings told investigators he fell asleep in the vehicle and suffered a panic attack before the attack. Jennings told investigators he “blacked out” and woke up to the victim screaming.

Jennings then threw the knife into nearby woods and tried to run before being arrested by Pennsylvania State Police, police said.

Jennings is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 12, 2025, while incarcerated in the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
