FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local high school teacher Thursday, Nov. 14, on charges of having sex with a student.

On Monday, 30-year-old Artem Moyer had his bond hearing in Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic Court.

The judge set Moyer’s bond at $10,000 to get him out of jail.

Moyer is still being held at the Western Virginia Regional Jail.

Moyer faces one count of indecent liberties with a child by the custodian and one count of sexual penetration of objects.

The Franklin County Superintendent confirmed to ABC13 that Moyer was an automotive teacher at the high school.

According to public criminal complaint records, Moyer had a relationship with a 17-year-old student between August and November of this year.

The student’s recording said the two hugged and kissed and that Moyer also touched her inappropriately in class.

Moyer’s next court appearance will be his arraignment on December 2.
