Jerry Jones addresses whether Trey Lance could start for the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a game since Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, but Jerry Jones doesn’t seem to think a quarterback change would help improve the situation.

The Cowboys were shut out for the second straight week on Monday night, this time in a 34-10 loss to the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Although the results didn’t reflect it, Cooper Rush played quite well. The seventh-year veteran finished 32/55 for 354 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Some wondered if the Cowboys might try to create a spark by giving Trey Lance an opportunity to start. Jones was asked about it during his Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan’s “Shan & RJ” and did not seem in favor of the switch.

“I thought Rush had an improvement last night from the game before. He didn’t have much to improve on, but I thought he had some improvement,” Jones said. “Honestly, there were moments in that ballgame where I thought it was really going to happen. We know we have limited time to work with these defenders at the moment and I would look to stick with the experience.”

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday night that he regretted not giving Lance a series near the end of the game, leading to some speculation that Dallas could bring in the former no. 3 overall in the starting lineup in Week 12 against the Washington Commanders.

Jones recently sounded like him pushing for Lance to have a bigger role after Prescott’s injury. For now, though, the Cowboys are sticking with Rush.
