Hong Kong’s mega-events in the first half of next year are expected to attract 840,000 tourists

Hong Kong’s mega-events in the first half of next year are expected to bring 840,000 tourists, the government said, as it released a list of more than 90 activities to be held during the period.

Authorities on Tuesday revealed the 93 mega-events to take place from January to June next year, a slight increase from the 87 originally announced for the first six months of 2024.

“Earlier this year, the government announced a number of measures to take proactive steps to promote collaboration and host various major events in Hong Kong,” said Michael Wong Wai-lun, Deputy Financial Secretary.

“We will continue to actively pursue this approach, emphasizing both quality and quantity, striving to promote rich, diverse and multi-faceted events across sectors.”

New-to-Hong Kong events include the IBF World Cup Bowling Tournament from January 5-14.

A showcase of 52 Impressionist works by French masters Paul Cezanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, on loan from France’s Musee de l’Orangerie and Musee d’Orsay, will be held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from January 17 to 7 May.
