Harrison man killed after being hit by pickup truck while walking on Mead Road shoulder – 9&10 News

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – Michigan State Police say a pedestrian in Harrison has been killed after being struck by a pickup truck.

On Nov. 17 at 5:43 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to a report of a man lying in the road on Mead Road near the US-127 overpass in Lake Township.

Officers found a 54-year-old Harrison man lying dead in the roadway, they said. A preliminary investigation shows a vehicle recently struck the man, who was walking west on the shoulder of Mead Road, and then fled the scene, troopers said.

Shortly after the investigation began, troopers saw the driver of a pickup truck arrive at the scene, they said. Based on evidence collected at the scene, the driver of the pickup truck was believed to be the person who struck the pedestrian, they said.

The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Houghton Lake man, cooperated with law enforcement and consented to a voluntary blood draw at an area hospital, they said. The investigation is ongoing.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lake Township Fire Department and the Gerrish Township Police Department.
