Sheriff’s Office arrests five on drug charges in unrelated case

SALISBURY — When deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence on Foxrum Road on Oct. 19 to investigate a claim that people had removed an electric meter from a home and placed it on a another house, they were looking at a class 1 felony. .

But during that investigation, deputies observed a number of drug paraphernalia and could smell marijuana. Based on this evidence, deputies were able to obtain a search warrant for the home and cars on the property.

This search resulted in the discovery and seizure of seven grams of methamphetamine, 477 grams of fentanyl and a variety of drug paraphernalia such as needles, smoking pipes, digital scales and plastic bags containing suspected drug residue.

In total, five subjects were arrested and charged. Those arrested and their charges were:

Anthony James Sadler, charged with trafficking fentanyl and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. He was given a $250,000 bond.

Jerry Dean Sadler, charged with trafficking in fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $250,000 bond.

Anna Brooke Hipp, charged with trafficking in fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was given a $250,000 bond.

Thomas Alexander McIntyre, charged with trafficking in fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and reconnection of utilities. He was given a $350,000 bond.

John Dodd Rakowski, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $1,200 bond.
