Still, Price refused to budge for more than a week after the AP called her. On Friday, she sent a defiant statement to supportersvowing to “wait until every vote is counted in Alameda County.” On Friday, the Alameda County election results were updated, with Price seeing a slight increase in support.

On Monday, she finally conceded, issuing a statement saying: “the voters have spoken, and although the result is not what we hoped for, I respect their decision.”

Earlier Monday, Price announced he would hold a press conference to discuss the results of the Nov. 5 election. Protect the Win, the organization that opposes the withdrawal, announced that Price will address the media at noon Monday at 6 p.m. Liquid 510an Oakland lounge.

Price did not take questions, but said that while the outcome of the recall is not what she had hoped for, she respects the voters’ decision.

According to the latest vote count, 37% of voters opposed the recall, with 63% supporting it. The next update on Alameda County election results is expected Wednesday.

“Thank you for the honor of serving as District Attorney, and I applaud you for going to the polls in 2022 and believing in the possibility of reforming the criminal justice system after one hundred years here in Alameda County,” Price said.

Price is one of two East Bay elected officials to be successfully recalled. Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao was also ousted by voters, with 61% of voters supporting the recall and 39% opposed.

Price’s chief assistant district attorney, Royl Roberts, will take over in the interim until the Board of Supervisors appoints a permanent replacement, likely in January or February.
