Report: 49ers WR Deebo Samuel expected to play against Cowboys

Last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Samuel was limited to just four snaps because of an illness and was hospitalized with pneumonia after the game, later being released on Tuesday and reloading with his teammates on Wednesday.

The veteran wideout did not practice Wednesday but was a limited participant Thursday and Friday.

Samuel described the terrifying experience after practice on Friday.

“Honestly, I really couldn’t breathe, for real,” Samuel told reporters. “And I didn’t really know what was wrong until after the game.”

He began to suspect that something was wrong during the warm-ups.

“I didn’t have the energy to run or anything for a while,” Samuel said. “And then we went in and tried to do a lot of IVs … but happily, we found it right after the game, and then everything.

“It was scary because it’s kind of hard to breathe, actually, and you can’t take a deep breath. So in the middle of that I said, “What’s going on?” And then we found out what was wrong after the game.”

This season, Samuel recorded 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, along with 19 carries for 51 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Tight end George Kittle (foot), cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (illness) and safety George Odum (knee) are also listed as questionable for Sunday night. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin), receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) and kicker Jake Moody (right ankle) have been ruled out.
