A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child family member multiple times in McHenry County over the years.

David W. Flynn, 57, of Chicago, was indicted in March 2022 on multiple counts of criminal sexual assault of a child, aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child and domestic sex.

A criminal complaint filed by a Marengo police detective said Flynn sexually assaulted a family member, who was under the age of 18, multiple times between October 2015 and May 2019.

Another attack occurred in January 2022, the complaint says.

A second criminal complaint filed by a Fox River Grove police officer alleged that Flynn unlawfully engaged in sexual relations with the family member between September 2021 and January 2022.

A third criminal complaint filed by a McHenry County sheriff’s detective alleged that Flynn sexually assaulted the child’s family member between April 2020 and August 2020.

Court records show Flynn pleaded guilty Friday to three counts of domestic sex, a Class 3 felony, in exchange for the other charges being dismissed.

McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis approved the plea deal.

She sentenced Flynn to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) on each count according to the agreement.

The sentences will be served consecutively and at a rate of 50 percent, court records show.
