Arsenal fans react to Leandro Trossard injury news

The Belgian has been a regular starter for the Gunners in recent weeks as he has often been asked to cover for Martin Odegaard while Arsenal the captain was ruled out due to his own injury.

Odegaard will still need to be treated with care, meaning he may not be able to play every minute of Arsenal’s upcoming games.

Over, Trossard he was also drafted in to compete with Gabriel Martinelli for playing time on the left flank.

With Trossard out of action, Arsenal fans on X are now waiting Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling step up and provide cover and competition for Odegaard and Martinelli respectively.

One he asked: “Ethan Nwaneri has to get minutes now with Leandro Trossard injured, right?”

Another he stated: “Just timed Trossard means injury, Sterling will now get more game time.”

One said: “Trossard has not been up to standard lately. It will force Arteta’s hand to find a replacement option like Sterling and Nwaneri.”

An Arsenal fan added: “Make no mistake, an injury to Trossard is a blessing in disguise for Arsenal… Give Nwaneri the minutes, Jesus and sterling, at least Jesus can switch wings.”

Another gave his verdict on Arteta’s options: “Nwaneri in the middle but what about outside? Martinelli needs cover and Trossard was first choice. So it’s either Jesus or Sterling.”

Another carved with: “Sterling much better than trossard. He needs fitness. The coach has no choice now.”

Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri must now step up

Sterling has failed to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium since arriving on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

However, the 29-year-old is a proven star with four Premier League titles to his name. He is a very experienced operator and Arteta has every right to expect him to deliver when called upon.

Arsenal signed Sterling to provide a reliable back-up when needed, and that is exactly what Arteta is asking of the 82-capped England international now.

Meanwhile, Hale End academy prodigy Nwaneri has established himself in the first team this season and has shown he is ready to compete at the highest level.

Arsenal fans were desperate to see more of Nwaneri in action for some time and now he may be set to get his wish.
