A Allentown the man is accused of firing several shots and then trying to flee down a city street, police said.

Nehemiah Steele, 18, of the 600 block of N. 16th St., is charged with felony firearms not to be carried without a license; misdemeanor evading arrest; and drug crimes. Steele was arrested shortly after the incident at 4:15 p.m. Saturday after a brief foot chase by police, Allentown Police Capt. Kyle Pammer said.

Court records did not show that a public defender has yet been assigned to represent Steele.

City officers were called to the 1100 block of Fullerton Avenue on Saturday for a report of multiple shots fired. They found two people at the scene, with Steele trying to run from investigators, police said.

Steele was arraigned Saturday before District Judge Daniel C. Trexler, who set bail at $25,000. In lieu of bail, Steele was taken to the Lehigh County Jail.

The incident came before another episode of violence in the city on Saturday night.

About two hours later, the city police were called to two gunshot victims in the 1100 block of Fullerton Avenue. Investigators believe a road rage incident led to that separate shooting. The victims are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries, city police said.
