Gun loaded, drugs recovered after downtown stabbing Saturday

Investigators have identified several persons of interest; officers responded to nearby St. Vincent and Rose in an attempt to locate them, but three people remain at large

Barrie police have released new details about their investigation as they continue to search for suspects in a Saturday morning attack that left one victim stabbed and the perpetrators on the run from police.

In the early hours of November 16, police say officers received reports of an assault on Dunlop Street where a victim had suffered a minor stab wound.

Police said the attack allegedly took place between 2:30 a.m. and 3:15 a.m.

Police say investigators have been able to identify several persons of interest. Officers went to an address in the St. Vincent and Rose in Barrie in an attempt to locate the individuals.

With the help of uniformed officers, investigators conducted a traffic stop as the suspects left the address in a vehicle, police said.

Police said two men were arrested as they tried to run from officers.

Officers found a loaded handgun that had been thrown by a third person, as well as a quantity of drugs, according to police.

The ensuing investigation determined that the two people arrested were not persons of interest in the Dunlop Street stabbing incident, however.

The third individual who was in the vehicle and fled was believed to be with the person responsible for the stabbing at the time of the assault. These individuals are still wanted by the police.

In connection with the downtown stabbing, police said they are looking to identify the people shown in the included photos.

Police are asking anyone who can identify these people or has information relating to this incident to contact the investigating officer at (email protected).

In connection with the traffic stop, police say a 30-year-old Scarborough man faces numerous drug and firearms charges, as well as assault on a peace officer.

A 23-year-old Brampton man also faces numerous drug and firearms charges.

During the arrest, police said one of the suspects sustained an injury, and as a result, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was notified and issued their warrant.
