Pull A Pine invites volunteers to remove invasive trees that are taking over the prairies, a semi-natural habitat.

The idea behind the event is to help save the rare species’ home, raise money for conservation work, educate the public about what’s involved in maintaining the heather and give visitors the chance to get a hand-picked Christmas tree , from sustainable sources.

RSBP said before, external which have “greatly improved” the habitat for species such as woodpeckers and grayling butterflies.

Statistics released by the society show that 1,651 people attended the two-day event in 2022 and “over 13,000 invasive Scots pines were removed from Hyde’s Forest”.

The RSPB spokesman said there was a lack of staff to manage this year and added they hoped it would be back in 2025.
