The deceased have been identified as Barkam Yadaiah, 54, of Nagilla village in Madgul Mandal and his brother-in-law Gaddam Srinu, 40, of Medipally village in Madgul Mandal, according to police. Police said Yadaiah was sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the January 2014 killing of his wife Sugunamma.

He served his sentence in Charlapally Jail for about eight years but due to his poor mental condition, he underwent treatment at Erragadda Mental Hospital. Two years ago, Yadaiah was released from prison and since then he has been living alone at his home.

Yadaiah had two daughters and one son. After Sugunamma’s death, Yadaiah’s elder sister Pushpa took care of his son Shiva. On Sunday, Srinu, who works as a mason, came to Nagilla village to attend a ritual at the house of his relative Barkam Chandraiah.

As Yadaiah was staying alone in the same village, Srinu then thought of talking to him and met him at his house. While he was talking for a while, a fight broke out between them and in a fit of rage, Yadaiah beat Srinu on the head and other parts of the body with a pestle and a stick.

As a result Srinu died on the spot. Yadaiah, who also sustained serious injuries after Srinu beat him with a stick, died. The incident came to light when villagers noticed the bodies and informed former Sarpanche Bojja Rameshwar Reddy, who alerted the police. The police registered a case according to the provisions of the NBS, and the bodies were handed over to the relatives following the autopsy.
