Will Dak Prescott play again this season? Latest injury update on Cowboys QB

The Cowboys’ fortunes looked bleak without Dak Prescott.

Dallas’ QB1 went down with a hamstring injury in the team’s Week 9 loss to the Falcons, and his return status was questionable. Cooper Rush played in his absence against the Eagles in Week 10 and produced a miserable 34-6 loss, raising more concerns for the future of the team’s season.

Entering a highly anticipated matchup against the Texans on “Monday Night Football,” Prescott is still out. Will the star quarterback be back on the field this season?

Here’s the latest on Prescott.

Will Dak Prescott play again this season?

Prescott is out for the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday.

The 31-year-old opted to have hamstring surgery, effectively ending his 2024 campaign. The procedure comes with a three-month recovery window, meaning Prescott won’t see the field again until next fall.

Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was among several of Prescott’s teammates who spoke about the injury.

“Unfortunately, we lost our quarterback, which is awful and deflating,” Lamb said.

With this, Cooper Rush will once again be in the limelight for the foreseeable future.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones still has hope for the backup despite his terrible performance against Philadelphia.

“Cooper has shown that he has the ability to compete and win games,” Jones said. “He gives us the best chance. Honestly, this was really an out-of-character game for him based on what we’ve seen and know about Cooper.”
