A 23-year-old self-employed man was remanded last week on suspicion of robbery. Junior Lilly allegedly stole a gold chain from a passenger on a minibus.

Lilly, of Lot 29 Section ‘B’ Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer to a robbery charge where he allegedly stole a gold chain worth Sh200,000 on November 4 dollars from Peggy Wayde. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody until 9 December 2024.

According to the prosecutor, on November 4, Lilly joined a Route 44 bus on Camp Street. When the bus stopped at the intersection of Lamaha and Cummings streets and as Lilly exited the bus, he grabbed the woman’s chain. Wayde sounded the alarm. Lilly was later arrested by police and positively identified by the victim. In response to the charge, Lilly initially told the court she did not know how it happened.
