NEW DELHI: A Class IX student was allegedly caught with a gun at school in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh ​​Nagar, police said on Sunday.
School officials recovered the firearm from the student and immediately notified police.
The weapon was discovered during a routine check by the school administration, who promptly alerted the local police. The minor and the pistol, identified as a domestically manufactured firearm, were handed over to the authorities for further investigation.
During preliminary interrogation, the student claimed to have found the weapon near a ghat area. The police are verifying the complaint and investigating how the firearm came into the minor’s possession.
The rusty gun was taken into police custody for forensic examination.
