A thug who hid from police in a Wendy’s house while armed with knives, a man who “lost his mind” and killed his own grandfather and a company executive who was unmasked as a criminal sexually predatory is among the Merseyside criminals jailed for the past week. Also jailed was a boy who tried to kill a love rival by plunging a machete into his heart.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Crown Court heard that a thief had broken a huge hole in the roof of an apartment because he thought the property was a cannabis farm. Here are the faces of 10 defendants from our region who were jailed in the last seven days:

Supporters of a pedophile had ‘disgraceful behaviour’ in court as he was found guilty of rape. Liam Brannan repeatedly sexually abused his victim when she was just 12 years old before he “reduces it by fear.”

But after she finally revealed his dark secret, the father-of-three ended up in the dock with his head in his hands as he stared down a 17-year prison sentence. Yet he continues to maintain his innocence of his campaign of outrageous abuse.

A bandit was found hiding in a Wendy house armed with knives after assaulting a staff member at Go Outdoors. Carl Parkinson and accomplice David Gray assaulted the worker and a third defendant, Julie O’Brien, tried to steal hundreds of pounds worth of luxury goods from the store.

He was later caught in possession of two guns inside a children’s playhouse after a father saw the intruder lurking in his garden from a distance on CCTV while his wife and children stayed at home. It came after the serial offender bit a prison officer on the leg during another spell behind bars.

Parkinson admitted theft, assault, two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for 42 months and given a two-year serious violence reduction order.

Gray pleaded guilty to theft and assault, while O’Brien admitted theft. Both were handed 18-month community orders with drug rehabilitation requirements of 12 months and rehabilitation activity requirements of up to 10 days.

A burglar who broke into a flat by cutting a huge hole in the roof said he thought the property was a cannabis farm.. Aaron Robertson left the flat’s occupants homeless after destroying a large part of the ceiling to gain entry, with one man even forced to sleep in his car.

The intruder claims he thought the premises had been converted into a drug factory and claims he intended to steal and sell the illicit substances he anticipated he would find inside. But the father instead took thousands of pounds of his victims’ belongings, including a diamond engagement ring.

Robertson admitted the theft and was jailed for 18 months. Sentencing, Recorder Michael Blakey said: “This has had a significant impact on the victims in this case. They felt insecure in their own property. You left them, at one point, homeless because they couldn’t live in the property.”

A man who made a small business out of modifying Amazon Fire Sticks to illegally stream premium sports, TV shows and movies complained he was “charged” when he was caught. Jonathan Edge earned at least £15,000 from the venture.

The 29-year-old advertised his services Facebook and Instagram at a cost of £30 per Fire Stick, with discounts available for purchasing multiple devices. He admitted three counts of fraud and was jailed for 40 months.

A company executive “sees himself as a victim” despite sexually assaulting a teenage girl One Tesco car park. Jakub Rembowski seemed to be a “caring family” who was at the center of his church community.

But he secretly subjected his victim to a campaign of vile abuse, leaving her “feeling like her world had collapsed”. The father and owner of an IT consulting business now says he is “terrified” after being forced to face the consequences of his evil actions.

Rembowski was found guilty of three sex crimes by a jury following a trial. Appearing in court wearing a dark gray suit over a white shirt, he puffed out his cheeks as he was jailed for 18 months.

A man has been jailed for nine years and nine months after being found guilty of two counts of rape. Jamie Jones raped a 20-year-old woman twice at his homeleaving her to suffer from “constant nightmares”.

A Gym owner’s huge drugs plot exposed after police stopped a car on the M56. Lee Ablitt was stopped by the police on the motorway for being a disqualified driver.

When police searched the 51-year-old’s vehicle, they found several boxes of Class C drugs. Officers then carried out further inquiries which led to the search of two storage containers, which led to the discovery of a significant quantity of steroids and performance enhancing drugs along with a large amount of cash.

A man “fell off his head” and killed his own grandfather after watching an Everton match with him. Ryan Cullen beat his grandfather Brian Cullen, 73 years oldafter watching the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat at Manchester City with him on TV because he “wouldn’t give him money for drugs”.

The pensioner died two weeks later from injuries sustained when he was brutally attacked in his own bed. It came after the killer was affected by mental health problems and drug use following the breakdown of his marriage.

Cullen admitted manslaughter, with a further count of manslaughter previously dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service. Appearing handcuffed in the dock for part of the hearing and wearing a black Adidas T-shirt under a black zip-up top, he was handed a five-year section 45a hybrid order.

This will see him treated in a psychiatric hospital after being held in Rowan View Hospital for the past nine months before being deemed fit to be moved to a prison. Cullen will then serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars, becoming eligible for release on license after serving half of his term.

A hooded boy who tried to kill a love rival by plunging a machete through his heart has been jailed for life. Sixteen-year-old Kevin Biji lured his victim down a dark alley by posing as his own girlfriend on Snapchat before launching the horrific assault.

The other teenager almost died after being stabbed twice in the chest and was only saved thanks to life-saving surgery. He was able to cycle home and seek help from family members despite the brutal attack, then texted his partner to warn her he “could die”.

Biji was found guilty of attempted murder by a jury after previously admitting a lesser offense of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a bladed article in a public place, but denied any intent to kill. He has a previous conviction for grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an incident in 2022 when he was just 14.

Normally, defendants under 18 cannot be named by the media. However, a judge lifted these reporting restrictions following a legal challenge from the ECHO because of the “high seriousness” of his crime.

Appearing via video link from HMP Wetherby wearing a gray Nike jumper, Biji put his head in his hands and then stood shaking his head after being jailed for life with a minimum term of 10 years in an institution for young offenders. He was also handed a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim indefinitely.

A man lured his cousin into dating him before brutally attacking him in a frenzy. Sina Hosseinpour stabbed her relative up to 12 times through the window of her taxi just seconds after he pulled over to the side of the road, causing him to roll forward and collide with another car.

The 25-year-old was initially charged with attempted murder but later pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was sentenced to four and a half years.
