Former firefighter charged with fraud, theft over illegal credit card purchases

MANSFIELD, La. (KSLA) — A former Mansfield firefighter is accused of making more than $14,000 in illegal purchases over six months at gas stations in Louisiana and Texas.

A Louisiana State Police investigation led to the arrest of Donald Anthony Jr., 22, of Mansfield, on charges of access device fraud and identity theft. He returned Sunday morning (Nov. 17) and was booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center at 9:06 a.m.

In July, the Mansfield Police Department contacted the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Bossier Field Office to investigate a stolen credit card belonging to the Mansfield Fire Department (MFD). The preliminary investigation revealed the credit card was used in more than 180 unauthorized transactions, according to Louisiana State Police.

Investigators learned Anthony allegedly stole the credit card after he was fired from MFD in February.

Trooper Eddie Thomas said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
