Bundaberg woman charged after allegedly hitting police officer with car

A police officer is recovering in hospital after a 19-year-old woman allegedly hit him with a car in the Queensland regional town of Bundaberg.

Police said officers were carrying out checks on a stolen vehicle at Walkervale, just south of Bundaberg’s CBD, on Sunday afternoon when someone drove “over an officer” and fled the scene.

The officer suffered minor chest and leg injuries and remains in a stable condition at Bundaberg Hospital.

Aaliyah May Spencer, 19, was charged with three related offences, including dangerous driving of a vehicle and failing to comply with the duties of a driver involved in an accident.

She is due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates’ Court later this afternoon.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a 16-year-old boy was also charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, willful damage and three counts of breaching bail.

His matter was briefly mentioned in the Bundaberg Children’s Court today, where it was adjourned to November 26.

He did not apply for bail and remains in custody.

Police said they are also trying to identify and locate any other people allegedly involved.

The car was a silver Subaru Forester.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
