Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu was unable to continue after the break in the 0-0 draw between Turkey and Wales in the Nations League on Saturday night as the Nerazzurri midfielder appeared to continue to struggle with his recent thigh injury.

The 30-year-old led Türkiye as captain at Kayseri’s Kadir Has Stadium, but was replaced at half-time by Vincenzo Montella.

Calhanoglu has recently missed a number of games for Inter, incl the 4-4 thriller against Juventus after injuring his hamstring earlier in the year 1-0 away win against the Roma.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sportthe Nerazzurri midfielder felt the same discomfort as he walked down the tunnel at the interval with Wales on Saturday night.

Turkey have another game away to Montenegro on Tuesday night, but it remains to be seen whether Calhanoglu will stay in the group or return to base in Milan.

Inter will play away to Hellas Verona immediately after the international break, before a visit to RB Leipzig in the Champions League and then a trip to play Fiorentina in Serie A the following weekend.
