Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect in a convenience store robbery

Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect after a 50-year-old man was pushed to the ground and kicked outside a Chalmers-area convenience store.

According to a press release, the incident happened on Thursday around 18:20 on Stadacona Street.

The victim claimed he was walking to the store when a man he did not know approached him and said something to him. When he did not respond, the victim said the suspect pushed him to the ground and began hitting his body and head.

After standing up, the victim said she was followed by the suspect into the store. According to the victim, the man asked to buy him cigarettes. When he refused, the victim said he was assaulted again until an employee threatened to call the police.

Police said this prompted the suspect to flee.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with a medium build and short, black dreadlocked hair.
