The fatal crash happened Friday near the intersection of Lakemont Road and Lake Hill Road, police said. Officials have not released the time of the crash, nor have they released the name, gender or age of the deceased minor.

The young man, who suffered serious injuries, was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center. Doctors pronounced the minor dead a short time later.

Traffic homicide investigators said the unidentified juvenile was riding an Arctic Cat ATV when the operator of the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn. The four-wheeler rolled on its side and trapped the minor under it.
