FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) shares that an investigation is ongoing after a person was found dead north of downtown Saturday evening.

According to the department, officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Tennessee Avenue around 11:30 p.m. in reference to an unknown issue.

They say when officers and paramedics arrived on scene, they located a deceased person inside an apartment in the building.

FWPD says there is limited information at this time, but homicide detectives are working to gather all available information regarding this incident.

FWPD says there is no threat to public safety regarding this incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
