Wine bar and boutique store coming to Wayne after Radnor BOC approves liquor license transfer

RADNOR – A new business, described by the owner as a boutique wine bar and store, is coming to Wayne.

During its meeting this week, the Radnor Board of Commissioners approved the transfer of a liquor license in Radnor to Nature’s Vin.

Nature’s Vin will be located at 193 at 195 East Lancaster Ave. in Wayne at the former site of Cowan’s Flower Shop.

During the meeting, owner Ragini Parmar described Nature’s Vin as “a boutique wine bar and store.”

Parmar added that a small restaurant would also be associated with Nature’s Vin.

“We will focus on natural wines,” Parmar said. She added other terms to describe the business, including natural, biodynamic and organic.

After being asked by one of the commissioners what biodynamics means, Parmar said that this is how farmers grow.

“So sustainable farming efforts produce organic grapes, but if you add any kind of preservatives or any toxins to those organic grapes, they’re no longer natural, so they’re actually three distinct categories,” Parmar said.

Parmar said inclusion in the wine industry will also play a role in Nature’s Vin as it focuses on women farmers, ownership and winemakers.

Parmar said a glass of wine would run from $12 to $20. Bottles would go from $20 to $60 or more. Wine would be the only type of alcohol sold at the business.

“So we’re going to take alcohol service very seriously, with proper training for all staff,” Parmar said. “Also, this is not going to be a bar where people sit around and drink, or what you would consider a traditional bar. This is more of a tasting room. An education center to really understand the wines, to understand the story behind these winemakers and to really bring in winemakers to talk to the community as well.”

Township approval was needed to transfer liquor licenses from Upper Darby to Radnor. A written resolution from the commissioner must be filed with the state liquor control board as part of the license transfer.

According to documents filed with city hall, the business will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and closed on Sundays and Mondays. It will also have a limited holiday schedule.

The proposed business will accommodate approximately 38 patrons.

Parmar said he expects to go before the Radnor Community Design and Review Board next month.

According to documents submitted to the municipality, Naturer’s Vin is expected to have a soft opening by the end of February and a public opening by mid-March.
